10-Minute Workout Tips
by Kaliannah Shirah
Weight
loss tips for people on the go!
Since my early 20s
I've dreamed of a quick and efficient method of losing weight - and, more
importantly, a way to achieve this goal with a minimal amount of physical
activity .
Don't get me wrong,
I'm not adverse to physical activity, I simply don't have the time I had
10 years ago, or even two years ago. Between chauffeuring the kids, building
my business and going back to college - I'm hard pressed for time to say
the least!
My solution? I modified
my usual 30-minute workouts into a series of ten minute mini-morning workouts
(I prefer exercising in the morning as it gives me a boost for the rest
of the day).
Here are a few suggestions:
WORKOUT
VIDEOS
Follow your regular workout video for 10 minutes (equivalent to about
two upbeat songs).
AEROBICISE THROUGH
ONE COMPLETE SONG.
Make up your own aerobic routine to a song on the radio or On your favorite
CD. Don't be self-conscious! Who cares how ridiculous you look while in
the throws of a song? It's the end result that matters!
JUMPING JACKS OR JUMP
ROPE
Easy to do, requires little space and no investment. Also good for your
cardiovascular system.
RUNNING IN PLACE
Did you know, if you run at a moderate pace you can cover a mile in 10
minutes?
BELLY DANCE or YOGA
Ultimate sources for relaxation and upper/lower body fitness. Not to mention
great fun!
SAFETY while working
out is important. A good rule of thumb to follow when exercising is: "If
you can't hold a conversation without gasping for air, you're overdoing
it!" Slow down and return to exercising later.
You can alter your
favorite workout session in a similar fashion to those described above.
Remember, that 10
minutes A DAY is better than nothing at all!
